We are grateful to be provided the chance to organise the event and hope to continue with the same enthusiastic spirit in future.
We at N.S.S. Hansraj always try to find novel innovative ways to support the all-round holistic development of the deprived sections of the society. Progressing further with this spirit, a Rakhi Making Competition was organised in the Yamuna Khadar slum area on August 14, 2019 to promote creativity in the children of that community. We witnessed a phenomenal participation from the high-spirited children of the slum. The prizes distributed for the first, second and third positions served as a great motivation for the contestants. The event was concluded with an oath about Independence Day and a beautiful recitation of the National Anthem. The event was overall an overwhelming experience for all the volunteers.
As Cancer has become a serious concern in today's world, whereas people still treat it as a stigma and a taboo, we at N.S.S. Hansraj tried to deconstruct and understand this threat by conducting a seminar on 'Cancer Awareness'. Organised on August 13, 2019 in the college campus in collaboration with an N.G.O. 'Yoddhas - Indians Fighting Against Cancer', the seminar witnessed a remarkable participation as the students flooded in to be a part of the discussion. Mrs. Rishi Mandela Yadav, a trustee of the Yoddha foundation, and Mrs. Kajal Palli, a cancer survivor, enlightened and motivated the spectators with their knowledge. The event was overall inspiring and informative.
Rallies serve as an impactful device to emblematise issues of social interest and their wide approach caters to an extensive audience. Hence, to rouse interests of general public in the field, N.S.S. Hansraj organised a 'Cleanliness Rally' in the Malkaganj area on August 13, 2019, an initiative taken under the Swachhta Pakhwada. A motivated team of volunteers marched out of the College campus with banners on cleanliness, raising enthusiastic slogans to motivate people. After extensively covering the Malkaganj area, the students re-entered the college through the Hostel Gate. The event was overall a very inspiring initiative and was open heartedly praised by the onlookers.
To keep the Swacchta Pakhwada of N.S.S. Hansraj progressing in full pace, a 'Cleanliness Drive' was organised in Malkaganj area near the college campus on August 12, 2019 as the third day of the Pakhwada. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ A dedicated team of volunteers gathered and were provided sanitary gloves and garbage collection bags. The enthusiastic group then marched across the streets of Malkaganj, collecting garbage from the surroundings for safe disposal. Also, the volunteers informed the nearby shopkeepers about the importance of cleanliness. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The event was overall a very encouraging one as the volunteers worked with full zeal for their environment.
A Cleanliness Drive was recently conducted in the Yamuna Khadar slum area wherein a team of dedicated volunteers motivated the residents of the slum to take an oath regarding cleanliness of their surroundings and maintaining personal hygiene. After the oath, the volunteers, through the mode of a door to door campaign, collected garbage from the houses and surroundings of the slum dwellers, which was further safely disposed. As it was the first volunteer-driven event of the session, the volunteers also got a chance to interact and form bonds within the society, which made the overall experience quite elating and satisfying. Also, we heartily thank and congratulate all the participants for successfully concluding the event. We hope to continue with the same pace towards the cleanliness of the environment and upliftment of the society.
Progressing with a dream of clean India and our visionary Prime Minister's initiative of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan , we at N.S.S. Hansraj are exhilarated to present to you the Swachhta Pakhwada- a fortnight dedicated intensively to focus on the cleanliness of the surroundings. As an energetic start to the event and to motivate the volunteers and enthusiasts to contribute towards the noble cause, a Swachhta Pledge was formally taken in the college amphitheatre area on August 8, 2019. All the volunteers left the amphitheatre with a heart filled with zeal and enthusiasm. The event was overall an inspiring one and we hope to progress and successfully complete the Swachhta Pakhwada with the same zeal and motivation.
We at N.S.S. Hansraj are on a perpetual lookout for innovative measures to aid in the upliftment of the deprived strata of the society. Progressing on a similar note, the society recently conducted a Donation Drive wherein the members of the society donated clothes to the needy residents of the Yamuna Khadar slum area. The volunteers collected the clothes from the college campus that had been donated by the students on the 'Wall of Kindness' and took them to the slum wherein separate teams of volunteers targeted different sections of the slum and effectively managed the donation drive. It was a liberating experience as the beneficiaries immediately accepted the donated clothes and praised our initiative with open hearts
"Social service doesn't need riches. Start with whatever you have. Go above and beyond. Rise from within." The very bliss that marks the days of N.S.S. volunteers as they contribute towards the society was witnessed by the spectators as lucid presentations and impassioned speeches were delivered by the core team members of the society. The essence and spirit of N.S.S. was channelized into the minds of the spectators and the program hence prompted many young minds to contribute to the society. Various schemes and projects initiated by the society were recounted through audio-visual clips and they delivered a strong impact on the minds of onlookers. We express our sincere gratitude to Dr. Rama, the Principal of Hansraj College, our convenor Dr. Monika Koul, the entire teaching and non-teaching staff and everyone who attended the Orientation Ceremony. Also we welcome all the college students to be a part of this vast N.S.S. family. Let's all contribute our handfuls to create a great change. After all, the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.
The anxiously awaited day, i.e. the International Yoga Day was celebrated with renewed zeal on June 21, 2019. Our honourable Principal Dr. Rama Sharma, college staff and members of NCC graced the event with their presence. A plethora of Yoga postures were tried and practised by the enthusiasts besides taking a pledge to make Yoga an integral and indispensable part of their lifestyles. The 3-day event finally reached its gracious conclusion as all the participants immersed their souls in the bliss of Yoga. It was an invigorating experience for all and hence the event ended successfully.
