The Commerce Society, Hansraj College is one of the most coveted societies in the entire Delhi University circuit. A pioneer in the field of commerce, business and finance, the society aims to uplift the students’ knowledge in all realms. With its firm presence and years of networking, we organize exhilarating events, informative webinars and engaging speaker sessions with industry leaders. Our annual publication “DeFacto” provides thorough insights into the business world along with interviews of eminent personalities and notable alumni. The Commerce Society is also actively working on all fronts to instill innovation and bring about a radical change through the power of social media. Under the guidance and support of our exemplary faculty-in-charge, we never miss an opportunity to undertake new initiatives.
The session of 2020-21 saw a paradigm shift in the manner that events of the society were conducted. With the onset of the global pandemic, the session was completely conducted virtually. To enhance students' analytical skills and provide a platform for experiential learning, the Commerce Society organized a 3-day workshop series, 'Expert Insight' from 10th September to 12th September 2020 by the three cells. Following that, the Commerce Society conducted the first edition of its national case study competition 'Caselytical’20' on 21st October, 2020. The event saw pan-India participation and garnered appreciation from all.
In the month of March, the society undertook the conduct of Caduceus, the National Commerce Championship, which was a three round indigenously, designed game that tested the wit and business acumen of students while employing concepts of game theory. The session concluded with the Annual National Commerce Festival 'Vanijya Utsav’21 - The Abode of Sagacious' held on 20th April, 2021. The Commerce Festival consisted of three cell specific events namely ‘Bullzai- The unrivalled Business Brawl’, ‘DeMercadeo 6.0 – Encounter the Impeccable’ and ‘RatPack 6.0- Let The Rat Race Begin’. Vanijya Utsav also encompassed a speaker session ‘Vyakhyan’, featuring two eminent speakers, Mr. Sanjiv Bajaj (Joint Chairman and MD of Bajaj Capital) and Mr. Suresh Prabhu (Member of Rajya Sabha and Ex- Union Railway Minister).
The Commerce Society, Hansraj College commenced the session of 2021-22 with zeal and fervor by organizing its speaker series 'Advitiya’21: Evolving into our best selves'. The inaugural session held on 8th August, 2021 featured eminent speakers, Mr. Naveen Jindal (Chairman, Jindal Steel and Power Limited) and Mr. Ashwini Kumar Tewari (Managing Director, SBI). The subsequent session held on 21st August, 2021 was addressed by Shri V S Sundaresan (Executive Director, SEBI). Further, an insightful session on 'Stock Market Analysis' was organized by the Commerce Society on 13th August, 2021 in collaboration with Groww.
In an attempt to facilitate the selection of suitable B-schools by students, the Commerce Society organized an insightful session on 'Strategies on Choosing the best B-School' by Dr. Shubhangini Bhalla in association with IBS. This was succeeded by the second edition of our online case study competition 'Caselytical’21' conducted on 18th September, 2021. The event was conducted over two enthralling rounds which challenged the analytical skill set of the participants.
On 20th September, 2021 the society successfully conducted a webinar on 'Career Awareness Program on Company Secretary Course' by Mr. Balaji Srivastava and Mr. Himanshu Sharma to allow students to explore Company Secretary as a career path. In an attempt to provide a platform for students to learn tips and tricks related to MS Excel, the society organized a 'Workshop on MS Excel' on 30th October, 2021 by Mr. Chinmaya Amte (Private Equity Analyst, M&G Global Services Private Limited).
