The History Department has started with the alumni connect series to build a quality relationship with the alumni and the current students.

An alumnus of B.A. History (Hons) and AIR-53 in UPSC 2018, Ms. Jyoti Kumari, IAS guided the history students for UPSC exams and talked about her own journey towards her goals. This session was highly inspirational to all the participants, motivating them to stay focused and believing in themselves.

On 1st November 2018 the History Society organized a seminar on the theme, ‘Visuality, Ways of Seeing and History Writing in India’. The talk was delivered by an alumnus Dr. Sadan Jha, an Associate Professor from Centre for Social Studies, Surat, Gujarat. The audience got a sense of how different colours are to be ‘read’ by historians and other social scientists.

The Department of History, Hansraj College, organized a talk by its alumnus Mr. Ajoy Ashirwad Mahaprashasta (Deputy-Editor at The Wire) on ‘History and Journalism’ on 19 February 2018 in the college. The speaker deliberated on the interrelation of history and journalism and drew a similarity between history and journalism that the most accurate of both depends on real shreds of evidence.
